Catchers are an Irish indie pop band formed in 1993 and led by singer-songwriter Dale Grundle with Alice Lemon (Vocals/Keyboards). Former members include Peter Kelly (Drums), Get FitzGerald (Bass until 1995), Craig Carpenter (Bass, 1996 onwards) and Jonathan Lord (Lead Guitar 1998).
In 2006, Grundle formed ‘The Sleeping Years’.
In 2021 Dale and Alice began writing new material with Drummer Roger Luxton, releasing Catchers single “Something’s Taking Over Me” on the 5th November 2021.
2021 Oscar-winning director James Reed (My Octopus Teacher) has teamed up with Catchers to create a stunning video for the track. James Reed : “I’ve been a fan of Catchers since I heard their first single Cotton Dress. I wanted to be a part of this new project as soon as Alice sent me the demo version of Something’s Taking Over Me. When we got into the studio it was clear that my film Jago, A Life Underwater had very similar themes to the song and the Catchers band generally, actually .. and so I was very excited to work with them”
Mute (album) :
“Catchers are sublime, enchanting and some strange kind of wonderful” (Ian Gittins – Melody Maker). “
Deliriously great songs and the single-handed reinvention of ‘perfect pop'” (NME).
‘’A record of pastoral delights’’ (The Times).
Stooping to Fit (album):
“A soft-spoken masterpiece” (The Times),
“Wonderfully crafted songsmithery” (Time Out).
